Holiday Care Unit

Our holiday care unit was totally refurbished and opened for Easter 2006. The unit is open every half term and school holidays (with the exemption of Christmas). Opening hours 7:30 am - 6:00pm.

We have 3 qualified play workers in the Little Learners Team (all staff have CRB checks and clearances). densEaster and Summer 2006 has been the best fun for both the children and the Little Learners Team. A lot of emphasis has been on encouraging the children to take part in physical activities.

Some of the activities the children have taken part in are:

Making dens in the park

Map making

Treasure Maps: Burying treasure in the garden and then drawing their own maps, swapping maps with another child and following the clues on the map to find the treasure.

go carts

Making "Bogies" (go-carts) the old way, using pram wheels and planks of wood. We had two teams "boys vs girls". It was a diplomatic draw and oh what fun we had speeding doen Barnes Park bank.

We wend on an archaeological dig: and opened Little Learners museum with the great stuff we found. The children spent two days armed with shovels and buckets, they dug up old perfume and sauce bottles, shoes, animal bones, a lead toy, old shoe's, and a very large enamel "tea cup" which was actually a chamber pot (that took some explaining).

The children all helped to bring the artefacts back to The club and washed them ready for display. The museum is situated on reception and catches the interest of both adults and children.

get fit“KID’S GET FIT”, came twice a week and as you can see from the photo’s a good time was had by all. Ball games, working in team’s and the giant parachute was the order of the day.

pool partyPool party: The weather was great so we spent most afternoons in the paddling pool. With the help of water bombs, sponges and super squirts we managed to keep cool.

parklifeParks: We visited every park in the area, Barnes park, Mowbray park, Silksworth Ski Slope and also visited the Winter gardens and Museum.

hangin aroundCinema: The children went to the cinema to see Monster House and Garfeild the Movie.

Leisure Centre: We all went to the leisure centre on the soft-play as we were fed up with the rain.

We also made Pizza and cakes, we painted and made monsters to hang off the ceiling (out of things we found in the park).
