Safety and Security

At Little Learners the safety of the children is a priority and no expense has been spared to ensure the safety of each and every child. All the windows are double glazed safety glass; all radiators are covered with heat resistant covers (especially designed for schools, nurseries and hospitals) and are thermostatically controlled along with the water supply in the nursery toilets.

A quality smoke alarm and heat detectors have been fitted in February 2004, along with break glass alarms on the fire exits (recommended by the Fire Department).

The children regularly take part in fire drills, the person in charge collects the phone and register and checks the toilets, in the meantime the other members of staff line the children up at the nearest fire exit and they exit the building, when everyone is safely outside at the designated area the register is checked.

No one can enter Little Learners without a member of staff letting them in, as the doors must be opened from the inside. A new electronic entry/exit system with intercom has been installed.

Only authorized adults may collect collection from the nursery. The staff will not allow any child to leave with another person unless notified beforehand. Proof of identity must be given before a child will be allowed to go, even if the child knows the person. If the staff is still unsure we may find it necessary to contact the carer.

We now have CCTV camera's installed around the nursery, continuously recording all entrance areas and the outside vicinity.
